How do I locate a peer reviewed article?

Answer

Using ReedSearch and/or most of the library's databases available from Reed Library's website, see the limiters which are generally on the left side of the search screen. Click on the checkbox labeled "peer-reviewed," "scholarly," "academic," or "refereed."

(The ScienceDirect database does not have a checkbox because all articles are peer reviewed.)

Note: Stay away from editorials, letters to the editor, book reviews, and similar items. These may be in peer-reviewed journals, but they are not peer-reviewed articles.

A definition:
"Peer-reviewed" (refereed or scholarly) journals - Articles are written by experts and are reviewed by several other experts in the field before the article is published in the journal in order to ensure the article’s quality. (The article is more likely to be scientifically valid, reach reasonable conclusions, etc.)"  Source:  Angelo State University libguide
